He made many nishikie (color prints), especially of scenic spots and noted places. Most of his pictures were precise bird's-eye-views executed on the basis of his personal on-the-spot investigations. His Dutch-style pictures were distinguished by realism. His style owned much to Western influence. His entries at a French art exhibition in 1866 were acclaimed.
