Entered the service of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and saw the office as a diplomat in South China, Manchuria, and Europe in his career of 25 years.
Played an active part in Shanghai during the Boxer Rebellion in 1900 and was stationed in Europe during the Russo-Japanese War from 1904 till 1905.
After the war was consul at Changchun and with the withdrawal of the Japanese Army from Siberia in 1921 was appointed consul general at Vladivostok, where he died.
