He is a disciple of and one of the successors to Sant Ajaib Singh. His spiritual development started in 1972, and then in 1987 he joined the ashram of Sant Ajaib Singh. After Ladhu Ram had studied under Sant Ajaib Singh for some time, the Sant changed his name from Ladhu to Sadhu.
