Career
He worked as an apprentice in a silk-reeling mill when young. In 1886 he went to Fukushima Prefecture where he set up a large reeling plant and then more plants at more than 10 places in Fukushima, Miyagi and Iwate prefectures, thereby becoming a well-known figure in the industry. In 1893 he built a plant equipped with a steam engine in Akita Prefecture. It is largely due to his efforts that silk reeling and weaving is now a main industry in the six prefectures of the Oou District.
