Education
Studied the calendar and mathematics under his father Sakuzaemon Takahashi.
Career
He was appointed commissioner of astronomy and learning (1814). In this capacity he surveyed the land and drew maps, translating many European books on the subject. His map of Japan won him great fame, which he drew with the help of Tadataka Ino.
