Saleem Peeradina was born on October 5, 1944 in Mumbai, India. Son of Habib and Noorunnisa Peeradina. Saleem came to the United States in 1988.

Peeradina graduated from St. Xavier’s College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1967. In 1969 he received his Master of Arts from the University of Mumbai, India in 1969. Peeradina also obtained a Master of Arts from Wake Forest University in 1973.
Peeradina lectured at Kirti College, Mumbai, from 1969 to 1971, later he worked as instructor at Forsyth Country Day School, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1973-1974. Besides, Saleem Peeradina lectured at various colleges between 1974 and 1984.
Then, from 1984 to 1987 he was copywriter at Hindustan Thompson, Mumbai. Meanwhile, Peeradina was associate professor at Siena Heights College, Adrian, Michigan and reviews editor of the Express Magazine, Mumbai, from 1982 till 1988.
Saleem was also visiting international scholar and professor at Adrian College/Alma College, Adrian, Michigan, in 1988-1989, since 1989 became associate professor there.
Moreover, Peeradina has given readings all over the world. In 2003, he served as writer-in-residence at American College, Madurai, India, and at Lenoir-Rhyne College, North Carolina. In 2009-2010, he was writer-in-residence at The Chelsea Pubic Library, Michigan.
Peeradina is Professor Emeritus at Siena Heights University, Adrian, Michigan.
He has been a member of Modern Language Association, Association Literary Scholars and Critics, Associated Writing Programs, Association Asian Studies.
Saleem married Mumtaz Peeradina on May 11, 1978. The couple has 2 daughters: Shoneizi, Lail.
