Sam Scott Miller received a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State Univerity in 1960, Juris Doctor from Tulane University in 1964 and Master of Laws from Yale University in 1965. He was admitted to the bar in 1964.
Career
Sam Scott Miller worked at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, specializing in Securities Law and Financial Institutions Law. He is co-author of "The Rudman Report: Self-Regulation for the Next 100 Years?" and "The SEC's New Investor Fairness Rules". Sam also authored "Market 2000: Modest Proposals or Revolutionary Seeds", "The Prudential Settlement: Supervision at the Top" and "Self-Regulatory Organizations and the Securities Industry: Does Membership Have Its Privileges?".
From 1965 Sam worked as an Associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. In 1968 he was appointed as a Senior counsel at Investors Diversified Services. From 1973 to 1974 Miller was a Partner at Ireland Gibson Reams & Miller. For three years he was a General counsel at Paine Webber Group Incorporated, becoming a senior vice president in 1976. Sam served as an Adjunct Professor at New York University Law School from1986 to 1990.
Sam Scott Miller was also a visiting lecturer at Yale Law School, Institute for International Economics and Trade, and the University of California.
