Studied Japanese classics and was a waka poet.
Career
When the Court changed its policy to that of friendship toward foreign powers, he went back to his province (1863). When he was in Osaka, the battle at the Hamaguri Gate of the Palace occurred between the Shogunate and the Choshii Clan (1864). The Court decided to punish the Choshii Clan for causing trouble. Shishido, holding himself responsible fo r the incident, surrendered himself, was imprisoned and executed.
