Career
An alumnus of NIFD, she started freelancing for ad films while she was studying. She started off with the ads of Soundarya Silks. What gave her fame was the ad of Seemas, which was shot in Mysore Palace with five models.
She has already designed costumes for television commercials of brands such as Kalyan Silks (Prithviraj Sukumaran), Dhatri (Kavya Madhavan, Nithya Menon, Samyuktha Varma), Bhima (Richa Panai), Nirapara (Kavya Madhavan), VKC (Kavya Madhavan), to name a few.
Her debut on the big screen was with the film, directed by ad film-maker Aijaz Khan, shot entirely in Kerala and which was selected for the Indian Panorama section at the Goa International Film Festival 2009.Aashiq Abu gave her a break which was when she designed Mammootty’s costumes in. Mammootty’s dapper suits and T-shirts, Jayasurya’s trendy clothes in, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s suave outfits in Arjunan Sakshi, Mythili’s and Shweta Menon’s flowing gowns and simple kurtis were all much talked about. Sameera ensures that her costumes add dimensions and colour to her character.
Her favourite star has been Mammukka.
“He is very style conscious and well dressed. Mammukka’s only condition was that the fabrics should be soft. Jayasurya is very fashion conscious,” says Sameera, whose favourite compliment came from Mamta Mohandas during the dubbing of the film.
Mamta hugged her and complimented her on the costumes Sameera had designed for her.
