Education
Samir Palnitkar got a degree in electrical engineering from in 1990. Then, he moved to the United States and got a Masters in Computer Engineering from University of Washington, Seattle in 1992. Later, he moved to Silicon Valley, California and got an Master of Business Administration in International Business from San Jose State University.
Career
Samir started his career at Sun Microsystems in 1992 where he developed multiple UltraSparc microprocessor chips. Samir was at Sun until 1995. In 1995, he started I2P, Incorporated., a company developing semiconductor building blocks such as Payment Card Industry, USB, 1394 for large corporations such as National Semiconductor, Philips, Hitachi, Nvidia and many others
I2P was acquired by Lattice Semiconductor.
Obongo.com was an internet company specializing in online identity management across multiple websites. Obongo.com was funded by Sequoia Capital and was acquired by America Online in 2001.
Then, he started Ingot Systems, Incorporated. a semiconductor company specializing in high speed memory interfaces. Ingot was acquired by Virage Logic.
In 2003, Samir started AirTight Networks, a solutions provider in Wi-Fi security technology that developed the first Wireless intrusion prevention system.
AirTight Networks was funded by renowned venture capitalists such as Walden International, Granite Ventures, CMEA, Trident Capital and others ShopSocially launched its site for public beta testing in May 2010.
