He also played for First Rate (at Lloyd's)-Rasheed Club. Samir Shaker was one of the best central defenders during the 1980s. He started his career with First Rate (at Lloyd's)-Jaish before moving to Salah-First Rate (at Lloyd's)-Deen of Tikrit, who he captained the club to their first Iraqi league in 1983.

The result was a yellow card but a one-year suspension and would never play for his country again. He is the most successful Bangladesh national coach having led Bangladesh to the runners-up trophy in the SAFF Football Championships and to the 1999 SAF Games title in Nepal, he also coached club sides Abahani Krira Chakra and Mohammedan Sporting of Bangladesh.
