Originator of Arita-yaki pottery
Career
He was brought to Japan by Lord Naoshige Nabeshima of Saga who participated in Hideyoshi Tovotomi's Korean campaign. He started making pottery near Arita in Hizen Province (Saga Prefecture) and his pottery was called Arita-yaki. It was called also Imari-yaki, because it was shipped to other provinces from Imari.
