Career
Founded French-language journal. Observer, Cambodia; Deputy, National Assembly in Prince Sihanouk’s party, Sangkum Reastr Nyum (Popular Socialist Community). Served as Secretary of State for Commerce.
Left Phnom-Penh to join Khmer Rouge 1967.
Minister of Defence in Royal Government, of National Union of Cambodia (GRUNC) 1970-1976, Deputy Prime Minister 1970-1976 (in exile 1970-1975, in Phnom-Penh 1975-1976). Minister of the Khmer Rouge opposition Government, fighting Vietnamese forces December since 1979.
Vice-President of Government, of Democratic Kampuchea (in exile) June since 1982 (responsibility for Foreign Affairs). President Khmer Rouge since 1985.
