Samuel Blodgett was born in 1757 in Goffstown, New Hampshire, United States.
In architecture his chief claim to fame was the building that housed the first U. S. Bank, a Classic structure built in 1794 at 116 South Third Street, and still standing. More generally known as the old Girard Bank, it was the first important building in America to be built entirely of marble.
