Brownstein began his educational career as a tutor at the age of ten while attending Public School 84 in Brooklyn.
Career
Samuel continued to tutor and eventually became an instructor for the Brooklyn school system. In 1945, Brownstein and fellow teacher Mitchel Weiner formed the College Entrance Tutoring Service to instruct high school students wishing to pass their college exams.
