He graduated from the Episcopal Theological School at Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1891.

Career

After holding pastorates in Rhode Island and Massachusetts he was archdeacon of Massachusetts from 1903 to 1913, when he was elected suffragan bishop of Massachusetts.
