1 daughter, Margaret Henriette. Admitted to Tennessee bar, 1893, and began practice at Pikeville. Moved to Chattanooga, 1895.
Appointed judge Criminal Court, 6th Circuit of Tennessee, 1903, and elected to same office three times without opposition. Resigned February 1, 1923. Member 68th to 75th Congresses (1923-1939), 3d Tennessee District.
Delegate to Monetary and Economic International Conference, London, 1933.
