SAMUEL NEWSOM

Background

Samuel Newsom was born in 1848.

Career

During the early nineties many important projects were planned in Mr. Newsom s office, including buildings for the Louisiana Purchase Exposition that opened in St. Louis in 1904. During those busy years Sidney Newsom (now deceased) was associated with his father in partnership, and another son. Noble Newsom, who became a member of the firm, later succeeded to their father's practice.

Connections

At his death, Newsom was survived by two daughters, Mrs. Roy Tufts of Los Angeles and Miss Ruby Newsom of Oakland. He also had three sons, Sidney, Noble and Harold, the first to of whom became architects working in a partnership with Samuel.
