Career
He served as chairman of the Board of Supervisors at a time when the Los Angeles county courthouse was built. Perry, who was referred to in the press as South. M. Perry, was born in Venango County, Pennsylvania, May 12, 1836, and lived in Piqua, Ohio before coming to Marysville, California, in 1860. After returning to the East for several years, he came to Los Angeles in 1875.
South. M. Perry died in Los Angeles July 21, 1898, and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
