Samuel Sejjaaka was born on 10 January 1964 in Mulago National Referral Hospital, in Kampala, Uganda"s capital and largest city.
Foreign his O-Level and A-Level education, he studied at Kings College Budo, a mixed boarding middle and high school in Wakiso District. He studied at Makerere University, Uganda"s oldest and largest institution of tertiary education, earning the degree of Bachelor of Commerce (Bachelor of Commerce).
He currently serves as Professor of Accounting and Finance at Makerere University Business School (MUBS). Between 2009 and 2014, he served as the Deputy Principal at MUBS. He did not re-apply for the position when his contract ended in July 2014. He is reported to be one of the wealthiest people in Uganda, the third-largest economy in the East African Community.
As a child, he lived with his family in Entebbe, attending Saint Theresa’s School and Lake Victoria Primary School.
He followed that up with the postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science, also from Makerere. He then attended the University of Strathclyde, in the United Kingdom, earning the degree of Master of Science (Master of Science ) in Financial Studies.
His degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Doctor of Philosophy), in Accounting and Finance, was obtained from Makerere University. Samuel Sejjaaka is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a Certified Public Accountant of Uganda.
He also serves as the Deputy Chairman of Stanbic Bank (Uganda) Limited, the largest commercial bank in the country, by assets.
Currently he is an Associate Professor in Accounting and Finance, at Makerere University Business School, the largest business school in Uganda. From 2009 until 2014, he served as the Deputy Principal at MUBS. His working experience includes over twenty years as a financial consultant. He worked with the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development as a financial and fiscal systems consultant in the areas of public expenditure, budget management and fiscal policy planning.
He has also worked as a financial consultant and auditor for public sector and private sector organizations for over ten years.
He has extensive experience in areas of financial accounting, taxation, strategic planning, restructuring, quality assurance and advisory services. Doctor Sejjaaka is partner in Summit Business Review (SBR) and also sits on its Board of Directors.
He is a married father and is the current Chairman of the Uganda Professional Golfers Association.
He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Uganda Development Bank, where he serves as the Chairman.
