Utley, Samuel was born on September 29, 1843 in Chesterfield, Massachusetts, United States. Son of Thomas Knowlton and Thedocia (Knox) Utley.

Education

Preparatory education Williston Seminary, Easthampton, Massachusetts, 1858-1860, Wesleyan Academy, Wilbraham, Massachusetts, 1862-1864. Bachelor of Laws, Harvard University Law School, 1867.

Career

Admitted to Massachusetts bar, 1867. Practiced at Worcester. Justice Central District Court, Worcester, September 13, since 1882.
