Entered Wesleyan Ministry, 1877. Didsbury College, 81. Kent and London Circuits, 1881-S5.
Began ministry in Manchester, 1885. Inaugurated the first of the great Wesleyan City Missions, and still in charge of seventeen centres of evangelistic and social work. Organised a system of rescue, relief, and preventive work.
Extended property of Mission to estimated value of £250,000. Elected member of Wesleyan Methodist “Legal Hundred,” 1902.
