Member of staff, Los Alamos (New Mexico) National Laboratory, 1951-1991; fellow, Los Alamos (New Mexico) National Laboratory, since 1981; laboratory associate, Los Alamos (New Mexico) National Laboratory, since 1991. Member numerous National Aeronautics and Space Administration advisory committees. Principal investigator for many science and defense-related space experiments, since 1963.

Achievements

• Achievements include numerous discoveries in space plasmas such as discovery of plasma sheet in the Earth's magnetic tail. First to identify ions of oxygen, silicon and iron in the solar wind.

Membership

With Army of the United States, 1943-1946. Fellow American Physical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Geophysical Union.
