Entered ministry Evangelical Church, 1897. Pastor Berlin (Wisconsin) Circuit and Menominee Falls Circuit until 1905. Sent to Japan as missionary, 1905.

Superintendent Japan mission Evangelical Church, 1913-1926. Elected bishop, October 13, 1926. In charge work of Evangelical Church in Europe.
