Admitted to bar 1863, practiced Marlborough, Massachusetts, 1863-1874, after that in Boston retaining residence in Marlborough. Was 9 years member Marlborough School Committee. 4 years member of the board of selectmen.

Was president old Framingham & Lowell R.R., later president Massachusetts Central R.R. and Central Massachusetts R.R.
