Sanetoshi Iki was born in 1600.
Sanetoshi Iki was a pupil of Tajirna Yagyu who went on to become a famous maker of spears, originating his own school.
Sanetoshi Iki lived during the Azuchi Momoyama Period. One of his spears which he designed had a handle measuring 9 shaku (one shaku is approximately one foot). In turn he served Nobunaga Qda, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, then Ieyasu Tokugawa, who made him guardian of Hideaki Kohayagawa with a fief of 12,0 koiku in Najima (Fukuoka Prefecture). Late in life he served Hideie Ukita and then the Ikeda family.
