Sankichi Sato was the Japanese rakugo (comic story) reciter.
Sankichi Sato was born in 1860, Edo (now Tokyo), Japan.
Originally a painter, he became a disciple of Emba Tachikawa, storyteller.
He was trained also by San-yutei Encho. Became a leader of the San-yutei school of storytelling and was called "Master of Yagembori," his home being located at Yagembori, Tokyo. He died when he participated in the disguise of an archbishop at a party marking the seventh anniversary of Encho.
