Career
She was co-host of The Better Sex (1977–1978), Real People (1979–1984), America (1985–1986), and The Home Show (1992–1994), and made guest appearances on several television dramas. She also co-starred in the 1981 film Terror Among Us with Tracy Reed. She has appeared in a number of infomercials for health foods, appliances and skin care products.
From 1975 to 1978, she co-hosted Master of Arts Los Angeles on KABC-television with Regis Philbin.
Purcell was a panelist on the television game show "Match Game" in 1978. In the early 1990s, Purcell was also a panelist on the National Broadcasting Company game show, To Tell the Truth.
During a 1993 segment of The Home Show about influenza vaccines, a physician mistakenly gave Purcell an injection with the same needle that had been used on co-host Gary Collins. At the end of the show, Collins announced that he would undergo blood tests to allay any concerns.
There were no reported subsequent results.
