Career
He was a Rear admiral in the Sri Lankan Navy. He was also the former Deputy Minister of Labour and Labour Relations
Sarath was educated at Nalanda College, Colombo and at Ananda College Colombo. He is also a graduate of University of Kelaniya before joining Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer cadet.
He retired from Sri Lanka Navy as a Rear admiral.
Sarath is a brother of Major General Ananda Weerasekara.
