Sassa Tomofusa was a Japanese politicial. A retainer of the Higo Clan (Kumamoto Prefecture).
Sassa Tomofusa was born on 1854.
Studied at Japanese classics at the clan's Rin-oen School and later in Mito where he became a Loyalist.
In rebellion of Takamori Saigo (1877), he joined the rebels and led a company. Surrendered to the governmentforces and imprisoned. Was released (1880) and opened the SeiseikS School and organized the Shimeikai, a nationalistic organization. Opposing Foreign Minister Tsuyoshi Inukai's plan of revising treaties with foreign powers, he was made vicepresident of the Kumamoto Kokkento Party.
Was elected to the House of Representatives (1890). Assisted Yajir Shinagawa in his organization of the Kokumin Kyokai Association (1892). Was a leader of the Teikokuto Party formed in 1899 and the Daido Club organized in 1905.
