Sato Kyunosuke was born in 1776 in northeastern Japan. he was the grandson of Tomonobu Sato.

He evolved better strains of wild silkworm selected by Tomonobu. Eggs of Kyunosuke's strains were in great demand in northern Kanto areas as Kawakyu eggs. He wrote Yosan Sawa, a book on sericulture.
