Career
She was named after her birthplace, Scilla in Calabria, south Italy, though her father Umberto Sclanizza, an actor hailing from Venice, brought her up in the north. Scilla Sclanizza married the great Italian puppeteer Otello Sarzi (1922–2001) and had a son, Mauro Sarzi (born 1947), he also a distinguished artist, continuing a puppeteering tradition going back five generations. Her second marriage was to Mario Verdirosi (1930 - ), also an actor and puppeteer.
Sclanizza died in Turin, Italy in 2006.
