In 1971 he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in biology from Wesleyan University his Doctor of Philosophy from the Johns Hopkins University in 1976.

Scott Frederic Gilbert

Gilbert is Professor of Biology (emeritus) at Swarthmore College and a Professor at the University of Helsinki. He is the author of the popular textbook Developmental Biology (1985) (now in its tenth edition, 2013). Scott is notable for his research in the field of ecological evolutionary developmental biology.
