Career
He currently serves as President of Strategic Programming and Acquisition for Chicago based Tribune Company. Compton joined Tribune Company in 2008 responsible for programming 42 television stations which includes LocalTV llc. Compton also founded and oversees multicast television network Antenna television In 2015 Compton made big television news with the return of Johnny Carson to the airwaves.
Working with the Carson estate and the entertainment unions he was able to secure the Carson rights for broadcast, first time since Carson"s departure in 1992.
From 1992 through 2008 Compton was with Clear Channel Radio Corporation serving as Vice President of Programming from 1999 thru 2008. While at Clear Channel, Compton was responsible for high profile talent deals with Donald Trump, Whoopi Goldberg, Sean Hannity and Ryan Seacrest.
Compton sits on the board of directors for the "National Association Television Program Executives" NATPE. Compton is the son of the late trucking talk show pioneer Dale Sommers.
