Career
Payne turned professional in 1992, but his career was without any success. He reached a high ranking of 196th for the 1995-1996 season, but lost his professional status in 1997. The highlight of Payne"s career was reaching the last 96 of the 1994 World Championship, where he lost 9–10 to Steve Newbury.
