After attending Meiji University he became member of the village assembly, village head, and vice speaker of the prefectural assembly. He also was successful as a local businessman, successively assuming the presidency of such companies as the Asahi Steel, Asahi Ceramic Tube and Fuji Rolling-stock companies. After serving as a private secretary with the Minister of Interior and Minister of Commerce and Industry, he was returned to the House of Representatives on a Liberal ticket after the war. He was purged soon after his election to the House of Representatives, but following his depurge resumed his political activities, being elected to the House of Representatives four times . Onetime Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Construction, he also was the president of the Saitama Oil Co.
