Came into prominence with his first novel, Minami Koizumimura (South Koizumi Village) (1907) and for a while, his name ranked with Hakucho Masamune. Later established himself as a dramatist with his Ibsen style play “Unless I Was Born.” After this, he wrote plays for Shochiku and retired from literary circles. Returned to novel writing with Gemboku and Choei.
