In 1884, after graduation from Doshisha College and a special course at Tokyo University, he went to Germany to study economics. In 1890, he won his degree of Doctor of Philosophy and further studied in Belgium and France. In 1891, Gō Seinosuke returned to Japan.
In 1895, Gō Seinosuke became an official of the Department of Agriculture and Commerce and president of the Nippon Transportation Co. He was subsequently a director of the Nippon Fire Insurance Co. and the Oji Paper Manufacturing Co. and president of the Tokyo Paper Manufacturing Co.
In 1910, he got the title of Baron. Gō Seinosuke steadily gained prestige in the financial circles.
One of his remarkable feats was his conversion of the Tokyo Electric Light Co., a firm on the verge of bankruptcy, into a prosperous one as its board chairman. Was a member of the House of Peers, president of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and an adviser to the Bank of Japan.
