Graduated from Tokyo University.
Entered Railway Ministry. After successive promotions became vice-minister of railway. After resigning the government service became vice-president of the Japan Express Company (Nihon Tsiiun K.K.), and then became president of Teito Kosokudo Kotsu Eidan (Metropolitan High-Speed Traffic Corporation).
Concurrently was a member of the auditors' commission of the National Railway Corporation and permanent director of Nikkeiren (Japan Federation of Employers Associations). Due to his bureaucratic background he often acted as sponsor in financial activities and is known as one of the leading men in transportation business.
