Educated at Nkuebe Primary School and Morija Secondary School, then awarded a scholarship in 1929 to Teko College, Transkei, South Africa, to study agriculture.
In 1931 he entered government service as an agricultural demonstrator. After 33 years he retired as a senior Agricultural and livestock officer. He joined the Basutoland National Party in 1964 and won a seat in the south at the 1964 general elections.
Transferred to be Minister of Works in Jnly 1967, he was switched again in rebruary" 1970 to be Minister to the prime Minister. Although not anxious to stay on in the government, he was gained as a Minister of State in the July 1972 reshuffle.
A Protestant in a largely Roman Catholic government, he is a member of the Lesotho Evangelical Church.
