From 1919 in Red Army. Fought in Civil War; 1923-1933 various commands. 1936-1939 staff posts.
Head, operations department, staff of a military distribution From August 1941 department head, Operations Board, General Staff. Responsible for battle reports and operational summary for all fronts submitted daily to Stalin.
Prepared daily reports for press and radio from Soviet Information Bureau. 1945-1950 taught at military academics 1950-1963 head, Military History Department, General Staff.
1958-1963 member, editorial board. “Voyenno-istorichcskiy zhurnal”, which he helped to foundation Foreign many years member, Expert Commission for Military Sciences and Military Technique, Higher Certification Commission.
Company-ed, 6-volume Istoriya Velikoy Otechestvennoy voyny Sovetskogo Soyuza 1941—1945 (The History of the Soviet Union’s 1941 — 1945 Great Fatherland War). Wrote several works on history of Soviet military operations. From October 1963 retired.
