Contested Legislative Council. Labour candidate, Federal Senate, first election. Re-elected, 1906; a member of executive, Parliamentary Labour Party.
Elected Chairman of Committees, Commonwealth Senate, 1907.
Justice of the Peace. Minister of Defence, Commonwealth Parliament of Australia since 1908. Justice of the Peace for Western Australia.
