Senkan Tachibana was a Buddhist priest of the Tendai Sect.
Senkan Tachibana was born in 918. He was named Senkan because he was born upon prayers of his parents to Senju Kannon, a Buddhist goddess of mercy.
Senkan Tachibana was a scholar priest at the Kinryuji Temple at Minomo, Settsu Province (Osaka Prefecture). When there was a drought in the summer of 962, he prayed successfully for rain at the Imperial command.
The grateful people dedicated to him the Kinryuji Temple.
