Cossack officer during World War I. Evacuated with the Whites after the Civil War. In the Balkans with his former comrades-in-arms created the Don Cossack Choir, which soon became world-famous. Toured Europe and America with great success.
A diminutive, boyish figure, he created a strong impression with his firm
command of the giant singers in Cossack uniform. Before World War II, took his choir to the United States, and made America their home. After World War II, started touring again, and was especially popular in Germany and France.
