Career
1918 professor, Saratov University. From 1919 professor, Moscow University. Devised methods for calculating thermodynamic values from the standpoint of statistical physics and applied this method to various special problems of molecular physics.
Did research on pyroelectricity, theory of dielectr crystal structure, the effects of magnetic field and space charges on thermoionic current. Outlined motion of electrons in electromagnetic fields.
