Until 1944 commanded various ships, formations and Black Sea Fleet squadron. 1944 commanded Azov, then Danube Flotillas. By end of World War II Chief, Operations Department, Black Sea Fleet Staff.
1948-1955 Chief of Staff, then Deputy Commander, and finally Commander, Black Sea Fleet. 1956-1961 candidate member of the Central Committee, Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Deputy, USSR Supreme Soviet of 1954 and 1958 convocation.
