From 1897 teacher, secondary school. From 1906 simultaneously teacher at: Tikhomirov’s Teachers' Training Courses. Institute of Commerce.
Higher Women Courses. From 1909 associate professor, Moscow University. 1911 left Moscow University in protest against the policy of the Minister of Education Kasso.
1917 returned to University. From 1919 professor, 1st Moscow University and associate, Institute of Geography of this university. From 1901 conducted expeditions in the Pamirs, Southern Urals, Caucasus, Ukraine, Kola Penisula and in the Crimea.
1913-1914 headed expedition, equipped by Russian Geographic Social, to explore Kanin Peninsula. 1929 commissioned by Institute of Geodesy and Cartography to direct geographic work in the Urals. Also travelled through Scandinavia, Western Europe, Egypt and Syria.

Together with A. A. Krubcr, A. South. Barkov and South. V. Chcfranov wrote a number of geographic readers and textbooks for secondary schools'.
