1896 graduate Khar’kov Veterinary Institute.
1897-1907 veterinarian in the Caucasus. From 1908 in the Far North, specializing as a reindeer breeder. 1910 founded in Pechora Russia’s first reindeet breeding research station, which he directed until 1912.
Studied reindeer breeding and fur trading in the Bol’shczemel’skaya Tundra (1908-1909), the Kolguycv and Vaygach islands (1911), the Kamchatka Peninsula (1916-1918). Eastern Sayan (1927), Anadyr’ Kray (1929-1930), Karagasiya and Taymyr (1931). 1933 worked in the Northern Pechora region.
1934-1935 on Kola Peninsula. Believed in "cottage-scale reindeer breeding,” id est (that is), breeding' reindeers in semi-permanent settlements. Experimented in reindeer breeding and studied pastures.
Helped found the Institute of Reindeer Breeding in Leningrad.
