1897-1901 studied at Urzhum City College. 1904 graduate Kazan’ Mechanical Engineer College.
Orphaned at an early age, he and his two sisters were cared for by their grandmother. Put into an Orphanage at age 7. 1904 moved to Tomsk; from July 1905 member, Tomsk Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Committee.
Managed an underground printing press and did revol work among railroad workers. 1905-1906 arrested several times by police. 1907 sentenced to 16 months of fortress arrest.
June 1908 moved to Irkutsk after release and rebuilt local Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party organisation, which had been broken up by police. May 1909 moved to Vladikavkaz to avoid arrest and took over local Bolshevik organisation. After 1917 February Revol member, Vladikavkaz Soviet.
October 1917 dclcg, 2nd All-Russian Congress of Soviets. Took active part in October Revol in Pctrograd. After return to Vladikavkaz worked to establish local Soviet rule.
Persuaded People's Congress of Tver’ Oblast (February-March 1918, Pyatigorsk) to recognize authority of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Council of People's Commissar. From February 1919 chairman, Provisional Military-Revo] Committee, Astrakhan Kray. From 7 May 1919 member, Revol Military Council, 11th Army.
From 7 July 1919 member. Revol Military Council, Southern Forces Group, Red Army. Helped to defend Astrakhan against General Denikin’s army and establish Soviet rule in Northern Caucasus.
From 29 May 1920 Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic plenipotentiary with Geo Democratic Government. 1-12 October 1920 headed Soviet delcg at concluding session of peace talks with Poland. 1921 elected candidate member, Central Committee, at 10th Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Congress.
April 1921 chairman, Constituent Congress of Gorskaya Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. July 1921 elected secretary, Central Committee, Communist Party Azcr. Company-founder, Transcaucasian SFSR.
1923 elected member, Central Committee, at 12th Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Congress. 1926 elected first secretary, Leningrad Province CPSLI(B) Committee and North Caucasian Bureau, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). Candidate Political Bureau member, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks).
Campaigned against various anti-Party groups (Trotskyitcs, Bukharinitcs, Zinov’yevitcs, etc). From 1934 Political Bureau member, Central Committee,All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). From 1934 member, Organization(s) Bureau and secretary, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks).
Presidium’ member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Central Executive Committee. 1 December 1934 murdered by Chckist Nikolayev at Smol’nyy in Leningrad — an act which served as pretext for mass reprisals throughout the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics.
Religion doesn't give equal treatment to women and therefore contradicts basic human rights.
