1919-1938 taught at Lenin Military Polit Academy in Leningrad. 1924-1934 taught at Leningrad Slate University and Herzen Teachers’ Training Institute. 1930-1937 head Department of Ancient History, State Academy of the History of Material Culture.
1934-1956 head, Department of Greek and Roman History, Leningrad State University. 1938-1950 senior associate, Lei ingrad Branch, Institute of History, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. 1956-1960 director, Museum of the History of Religion and Atheism.
Did research on the political, soc and economics history of ancient Greece and Rome. Did research on the origins of Christianity and the Marxist conception of ancient society
